General information

General characteristics

Although both crayfish and lobsters have claws, segmented tails, ten legs, and long antennae, the two crustaceans differ in size, habitat, and appearance, making it easier to distinguish one from the other. It is the popular designation for several species of decapod crustaceans, similar to lobsters, but smaller, found in both saltwater and freshwater. There is no commercial farming, only extractive fishing.
