General information

General features

They can crawl forward slowly, but usually move sideways, especially when crawling quickly. Most crabs cannot swim, although in some species the last pair of legs ends in a wide, flattened paddle or oar, which allows them some swimming locomotion. A curiosity: crabs have their head, thorax and abdomen fused into a single part.
