A trophy for sport fishermen, but very rarely appreciated in cuisine. The classic fish that "is worth more alive." It has dark flesh and many bones. It can grow to over 2 meters in length and weigh 150 kg, however, some predatory fishermen catch juveniles weighing 50-80 grams and sell them as sardines. It is on the list of endangered species, therefore, we do not recommend it!

General characteristics
In 2019, this fish was included in Ibama Ordinance 445, which recognizes species of fish and aquatic invertebrates in Brazilian fauna as ENDANGERED.
