The world's largest scaled fish! Native to the Amazon basin, it has white meat and a very tall fillet. A fish that can be prepared in absolutely all ways. When sourced from extractive fishing, salting is used as a preservation method, after which it is called freshwater cod.

General characteristics
One of the most prehistoric fish we have. It has a rudimentary lung and can therefore breathe atmospheric air. Its reproductive behavior is quite complex and not yet fully understood. It grows quickly, reaching up to 200 kg. Commercial farming has advanced significantly in recent years, and today most pirarucu in stores comes from sustainable aquaculture. Highly desired by high-end chefs.
