General characteristics
A bottom-dwelling fish with a large, wide mouth, it always has the same color as the sand in its habitat and usually hides part of its body in the sand. This, incidentally, is its feeding strategy. Due to mimicry, its prey cannot identify the anglerfish, and when they pass too close, it seizes the opportunity to snap them up. Some initiatives for the commercial cultivation of this species are underway.
