A species not well known by consumers. Its flesh is firm yet tender, very tasty, white, and boneless. Because it is not well known, the price is always very affordable. It has thick skin with small, very firm scales, perfect for grilling without aluminum foil. Once grilled, the skin easily separates from the flesh.

General features
A coastal fish, it frequents mangroves, estuaries, channels, beaches, and areas near islands and rocky outcrops. It is quite abundant along the Brazilian coast and heavily caught by artisanal fisheries.
