Sometimes confused with the Needlefish, but the Farnangaio is smaller. On restaurant menus or at the fish market, it sometimes appears as "agulhinha" (little needlefish). A classic Brazilian coastal snack. Besides being very tasty, it is always available at affordable prices.

General information

General characteristics

Small fish that live in schools. In the Northeast, they usually catch this fish in a very unusual way, without hooks and at night. Using small boats, which can even be rafts, they go to the fishing spots, stretch a white cloth vertically over them, then light lamps to illuminate this cloth.
