General characteristics
An interesting fact about this species: it has no swim bladder! Because of this characteristic, it is always close to the sand on beaches, especially in the surf zone, as this is a place abundant in food for this species. Another peculiar characteristic of this species is the existence of a single barbel on its "chin", which is used to "feel" the sand in search of food.
