General information

General characteristics

It is very common in coastal fisheries. The predominant color is dark brown, but some specimens are lighter and have bodies covered with irregular spots. It is very abundant in coastal areas but is rarely seen on more distant islands. It is a very curious fish and has territorial habits. Each male has several females in its habitat and repels invaders of the same species. It does not grow much; adults usually weigh around 4 kg.
